Our Venue

Hello, friends!

I’m sharing here some useful information about our venue!

The cabin was spared the devastating floods that affected the area in September/October 2013.

There is so much to do in the area, we recommend you visit the official websites for Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Visit Estes Park: (Gorgeous images from the area!)

The venue website is:

The cabin is located at an altitude of 9,200 ft. It can be reached by either Highway 7 or Highway 36 which takes you through Estes Park and then connecting to Highway 7 to approach the location.

Because the cabin is so up high, some lowlanders find it helpful to spend a day or two around Denver to acclimate to the heights of Colorado. Others have no problem at all.

The cabin butts up against the Rocky Mountain National Park and consists of 6 acres of Pine Trees and rock formations. You will literally by at the Rockies. There are many hiking trails and we are just five minutes away from beautiful Lily Lake. We recommend that you start your outdoor experience by visiting the lovely lake and walking around it.

There are two fireplaces in the cabin. The first floor has a wood burning stove; the second floor has a large stone fireplace. Both are fired with pine logs which are found in abundance on the property.

You will be in the mountains backing up to the Rocky Mountain National Park. Periodically, elk wander on the property. They are protected animals and should just be enjoyed and not challenged or frightened. During the early fall matting season (in which our wedding will take place), keep your distance from all bull elks.

There are bears in the area. Generally they are shy and do not like to be around humans. They are normally looking for easy food (garbage). Do not leave food or garbage outside at any time.

Squirrels, chipmunks and the hammock. These little critters are in abundance at the cabin. They love to take a thread out of the hammock for nesting material.

There are 2 golf courses, tennis courts, and lots of fishing opportunities around the area.

Please, remember to pack, a sweater and a jacket, sturdy boots or tennis shows, a hat, sunglasses and water bottles to any hike up the mountains or while walking the many trails in the area.

If you decide to swim in the lake, sunscreen is highly recommended at this altitude.

Cabin rules:

1. Smoking is not allowed. Smoking is not allowed in the cabin, deck, or on the 6 acre property. If you need to smoke, please do so in your own vehicle. This is a HIGH FIRE HAZARD area, so cigarets must be extinguished properly and placed in an appropriate receptacle.

2. Pets are not allowed.

The cabin is located on 707 Goblins’ Castle Road, Estes Park, Colorado.

An AWD car is recommend to reach the cabin through the dirt roads.

Hotels in Estes Park, Colorado

We are currently working on blocking rooms for our guests in Estes Park for our wedding weekend! Some of our friends and family have requested recommendations of hotels in the area and here are few amazing places to stay:

1. The Stanley Hotel:

The Stanley Hotel, managed by Grand Heritage Hotel Group, is a property of grandeur with stories steeped in history, the paranormal, pop culture, and even environmentalism. Having recently marked its 100-year anniversary, the hotel offers four unique lodging options, is located minutes away from Rocky Mountain National Park and embraces its rich history as it continues to look to the future.

The Stanley Hotel was founded by F.O. Stanley, a wealthy businessman forced to move west for health reasons. He found himself in Estes Park, Colo., and in order to boost the economy, began building a hotel. The main building, one of 11 originally built on 160 acres, was completed in 1909. While the expansive property boasts amazing architecture, a magnificent setting and spectacular views, it may forever be best known as the inspiration for Stephen King’s spine-tingling novel “The Shining.”

King reportedly was a guest in Room 217 of a near-deserted Stanley in late 1974 before it was due to close for the winter. Though the entire property, from the concert hall and ballrooms to underground tunnel, is said to experience paranormal occurrences, Room 217 is said to be the most visited by living and spectral guests, alike.

2. The Maxwell Inn:

This hotel was rated #1 in Estes Park according to Trip Advisor!

The Maxwell Inn is a family owned and operated Inn positioned perfectly for your next vacation to Estes Park; just a ten minute walk to downtown along the Fall River pathway, and less than four miles to the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Peter and Dana Maxwell purchased the Inn in February of 2013 and transformed the Inn into one of Estes Park’s most unique – and highest rated – lodging locations. The list of improvements includes – but isn’t limited to – Serta beds with custom duvets and bed skirts, new linens and towels, custom furniture, new carpet throughout, new televisions, and improved lighting in every room.

The discounted rates for our guests for that weekend are: Double Queen = $149/night, King = $139/night and Queen = $129.  Please have your guests book directly on the website (and write in the special request section that they are part of your wedding party to have the discounted rate applied to their reservation) or have them call the Inn directly.

We are currently working in blocking rooms in both locations and will update this information as soon as possible.
